2. Tile Servers

Currently, Tracestrack has three high performance rendering servers and two caching servers. Caching servers behave as CDN. One is in Singapore, serving requests from Asia and Oceania. The other locates in London, serving rest of the world.

3. Tile Updates

Most of the tiles are prerendered. With limited resources, it is difficult to keep an up-to-date map tiles in short period of time.

Our strategy to balance freshness and cost is to rerender only recently-accessed areas. We distinguish active and inactive areas. Active areas are those having visits in the past 7 days. Every Friday midnight, tiles in active areas are rerendered and deployed to caching servers.

Tiles in inactive areas are rerendered in longer period, for example one month to three months.
